Words cannot express the feelings of gratitude that I have for all the compassion shown my mother and our family during these past several years by Professional Caretakers' caregivers and staff. When my mother began having balance and mobility difficulties, she suffered a fall, broke a shoulder and was unable to care for herself until her shoulder mended. I stayed with her for two weeks but quickly found out that I wasn't going to be able to continue doing this for her on a 24/7 basis. Due to my own family needs, physical limitations, and the emotional toll that I was experiencing, I found it to be overwhelming after a while.

As a family member, the personal and physical care isn't the only thing required of us in caring for our loved one. There are business decisions to be made, discussions with doctors, physical therapists, caring for our loved one's estate, homes, etc. Having someone else share the burden and help with the difficult issues meant so much! Although I felt guilty doing so, I called Professional Caretakers, Inc. and quickly felt a sense of comfort that there were people who were trained to care for her, who would preserve her dignity and independence and who would come into her home and honor her wishes.

For the past two years, they have done that for her, all the while working with us though a variety of scheduling changes due to her progressive disease and her changing and deteriorating physical needs. They 'hung in there' through an assortment of maladies, falls, a heart attack and side effects from medications. They have accommodated our changes if personality conflicts with a particular caregiver arose. The caregivers were honest, trustworthy, compassionate, professional, and treated my mother with respect.

For all these things and many, many more we recommend Professional Caretakers, Inc. to anyone who is trying to make a decision about hiring someone from the outside to help with a loved one. Like their logo says, we, as family members, 'can't do it all'.
